• Hackney Area Tabletop Enthusiasts presents

    HATECON ONE
    Saturday 27th Of February

    Games, Beer and Friends

  • THE DAY

A whole day of tabletop gaming in all its beautiful varieties. Three floors of workshops, demonstrations, taster sessions, regular games, a bring-and-buy stall, beer and good company. Roleplaying games, board games and war games are all catered for. Come and play something new, or return to something old. If you've always wanted to try roleplaying, perhaps give a modern board game a go or see what miniature gaming is all about then our friendly demo teams will be only too glad to give you an introductory game.

Organised games and limited open gaming starts at 11am and run through until 6pm, when we switch to solely open gaming until 11pm.

  • THE CLUB

The Hackney Area Tabletop Enthusiasts (HATE) is an open social club for established and new gamers, who have a relaxed and friendly attitude to play. On the 27th Feb we’re running our first ever convention, aimed at introducing players to games and people to the club. Our venue, the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club is representative of the DIY and community-minded nature of HATE, and has its own basement brewery, 3 Sods.

Even more to keep you occupied

Our resident professional artists and recent Salute winner and Golden Daemon finalist will be doing tutorials aimed at improving painting and airbrushing skills and getting creative juices going. A bring-and-buy stall will be onsite, so bring interesting things to sell or pick up a bargain. We can't promise jam though.

    Bitz box charity model competiton

    Your warped minds are needed

For a £3 donation to the charity Mind, you attempt to create the weirdest and most crazed creation going, all from the club bitz box. Elf body with ork heads? Tentacle arms for arms, buggy wheels for feet? It's up to you. You get to keep your creation, and at the end of the day a panel of highly esteemed, possibly sober judges, will pick a winner which will be painted for you by professional artist and painter Henry South.

    Amenities

    Cash bar

The Bethnal Green Working Men's Club is a cash only bar. There are several cash points within easy walking distance on the high street. The venue doesn't serve food, however there are plenty of local places to eat or to takeaway on the high street, including a supermarket. Residential parking is in place until 5.30pm around the venue. There is private parking on Tent Street, E1 which a 8-10 minute walk from the venue, which can be booked here.

    Inclusivity

    No bullshit

HATE is an open-minded club that has only one rule, Don't Be A Dick. We welcome anyone and everyone who isn't racist, sexist or ableist. As our favourite wizard says "¡No pasarán!". Bethnal Green Working Men's Club is made up of a series of bars, so under 18's must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The venue unfortunately has very poor wheelchair access, with steps throughout.
